Scott Reed was a normal, sane man, and he was pretty certain of that. Sure, he was well-off and had no memory of how he got that way - or, really, of anything dating back more than 2 years - but beyond that, he was probably pretty sane.

Unfortunately, that belief was sort of strained by the appearance of a dryad in his maple tree, a confused river-sprite on his porch, and, uh, a contentious lycanthropic fox that almost immediately appointed itself his guard. Against the river-sprite. Because of course that makes sense.

On top of that bizarreness, the real world was getting itself more complicated as well. The pretty girl he’d cautiously been flirting with these past two years has decided now would be the best time to push for something more, and, worse, the strange fragments kicking around in his dreams were suddenly starting to wash over into his waking life.

All in all, he couldn’t say he was that terribly shocked when his house ended up suddenly surrounded by space aliens... however, his reaction to what they had to say would be quite another thing.
